01 Jun The Pilgrim’s Office presents its volunteer program for 2026
As every year, the Pilgrim Welcome Office is launching a new volunteer campaign, so that anyone interested can sign up for the various options available.
The program is open to anyone, regardless of age or nationality, who has walked the Camino de Santiago and who, with a spirit of evangelical service, wishes to contribute to welcoming pilgrims.
Volunteering can take place at the International Pilgrim Welcome Center (in Santiago de Compostela) or at one of the hostels affiliated with Christian Hospitality on the Camino. Volunteers in Santiago are responsible for distributing Compostela certificates to pilgrims and welcoming them at the Pilgrim Office. Volunteers coming to Santiago can stay at the volunteer residence, the “Volunteer’s Home,” located in the San Lázaro neighborhood. They will receive a short training course beforehand.
This is a very important and highly valued initiative among the pilgrims who arrive daily at the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela. It allows them to feel welcomed and supported in their own language and to share experiences with others.
Volunteer shifts are organized in two-week periods throughout the year. To participate as a volunteer, simply apply on the website of Christian Hospitality on the Camino de Santiago (https://acogidacristianaenloscaminosdesantiago.org/) or by email at voluntarios.acc@catedraldesantiago.es
